Economy
The new C3 comes in three powertrains:
- PureTech 110 (Petrol)
- Hybrid 110 e-DSC6
- All-electric 83kW with 44kWh battery
The all-electric powertrain figures are certainly impressive.
- City Electric Range: up to 278 miles (WLTP)
- Combined Electric Range: up to 199 miles (WLTP).
- Fast 100kW Charging time: 20%-80% in 26 minutes
- Standard 7kW Charging time: 20%-80% in 4 hours and 10 minutes
- Standard 11kW Charging time: 20%-80% in 2 hours and 50 minutes
Please note: All electric vehicles are automatic. They don’t pass through gears and therefore the power is offered with a smooth and even delivery.
More information on electric charging
Charging rates can often be confusing, so Charters are happy to advise on how you can best understand these figures. Many drivers of electric vehicles opt to install a home charger (which means you can currently benefit from cheaper overnight charging). When installing a charger, you will be given an option of charger type (for example a 7kW or 11kW). Depending on the charger you select, your charging speed will vary according to the figures above. The Fast 100kW charging rate can be achieved by rapid and ultra-rapid chargers found in public places (such as service stations, popular restaurants etc). These are meant to be used to ensure you are topped up with charge when taking a longer journey. This vehicle can charge from 20%-80% in the time it takes you to take a short break at a public place before you hit the road again.
Why don’t charging rates quote from 0-100%?
It is rare and generally bad practice to completely drain your battery or fully charge it to 100%. Ideally, drivers of electric vehicles opt to charge their vehicle at home so (unlike a petrol car) filling your car completely with energy is not required. Before going on a longer journey, the vehicle can be charged to 100% but the speed from 80%-100% charge is achieved at a much slower rate. Vehicles driving at 100% battery level means they are not benefitting from regenerative braking and therefore, are driving inefficiently.
What is WLTP?
WLTP stands for the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure. This is laboratory test which is used to measure fuel consumption and CO2 emissions from passenger cars, as well as their pollutant emissions. Whilst it is understood that real-world driving may produce different results, it forms a way of directly comparing economy results across multiple brands. Whenever you see a range or MPG figure, it is usually a WLTP approved one. Our team can advise you on the real-world expectations of driving the New Citroen C3.
